ELDER EXPEDITIONS IN NEPAL

In early April, a group of Elder Expeditions adventurers set off for a ten day visit to Nepal, the roof of the world. All agreed that the trip was delightful with a fun and exhilarating mix of activities. It was universally agreed that the highlight of the trip was the early morning plane ride around along the Himalayan peaks, including the legendary Mt. Everest.

Elder Expeditions will be venturing off to Nepal again in September. Space is still available on the September, 2011 trip.

Summer in Romania

Elder expeditions has updated its destination roster to include a summer adventure trip to Romania. Inasmuch as we will be fortunate enough to have the same outfitters who did such an outstanding job with the Elder Expeditions winter trip to Transylvania, our clients may comfortably expect the same high quality of adventure, attentiveness and service during the summer Romanian experience.

For a complete description of the Romanian summer adventure, visit the Destination section of our web site.

JORDAN: OUR NEWEST DESTINATION

Elder Expeditions is pleased to add its newest destination: Jordan, a location where we will enjoy a comfortable mix of participation sports, interaction with the locals, visits to historical and geologically significant sites, including one that is renowned as among the most impressive in the Middle East.

While Jordan offers a wealth of activities for the adventure traveler seeking to combine participation sports with mental stimulation, we are acutely aware of the current political turmoil in the Middle East. Ever mindful of the safety and well being of our clients, the decision to list Jordan was made only after considerable research.

The following factors influenced our decision to include Jordan as one of our exciting locations:

  • Jordan is a stable country with democratic structures in place;
  • Strong adherents to the “Jordan Example,” a theory espousing the view that Islamic rhetorics are weakened by the responsibility of power and real influence;
  • the protests occurring in Jordan have focused on dissatisfaction with the high costs of food and fuel as opposed to dissatisfaction with the government, as was the case in Egypt, Tunisia and Libya;
  • King Abdullah acted promptly and persuasively in making responsive changes in the government;
  • King Abdullah announced pay raises for civil servants and $125 million in subsidies to counter the high cost of food and fuel;
  • as of March 17, 2011, Jordan was not included on the Current Travel Warnings list as published by the United States Department of State.
